A user works in remote areas and needs an Internet connection to finish his tasks. However, his only option is to use a cellular network. In this situation, what kind of network is he establishing when he connects to the Internet?

When you connect to the Internet via a cellular network, you are using a WWAN. Most of us are familiar with our home or office's local area network (LAN) and the personal area network (PAN) that we use to connect devices like wireless keyboards, mouse, and headsets to our computer. A campus area network (CAN) could operate on a single entity's property but located in separate buildings. The network might even cross public streets. You may be less familiar with wireless wide area networks (WWAN), which are becoming more common. WWANs use the cellular network, as opposed to wireless LANs, which use radio, microwave, or infrared signals. A WWAN device, often known as a mobile hotspot, can be purchased through a cellular service provider. A contract is usually required, but some are not. The main advantage of a WWAN is that it can be used almost anywhere - the cellular network is basically global. The most significant disadvantage is most certainly the cost.
