What happens first in the laser printer imaging process?

The CompTIA A+ objectives list the following steps for the laser printing process: processing, charging, exposing, developing, transferring, fusing, and cleaning. Data is transmitted to the printer during the processing step, when a raster image processor converts it into a raster image (a group of dots) in order to prepare for printing.
