An unmanaged switch is only a connectivity device which cannot be used to segregate ports into separate VLANs. To aggregate two or more networks into one, a bridge is utilized. Each port on a switch, whether managed or not, has its own collision domain, whereas a hub is just a connectivity device that has one collision domain. Hubs are frequently used to provide several ports for a single connection on a computer, such as a USB port. They are no longer commonly seen on networks.
