To recover all the data while restoring a system using differential and full backups, you'll need the most recent backup for each kind. Due to the cumulative backup of all the changes that have occurred since the most recent full backup, each differential backup is larger than the one before it. The backups take longer to create than incremental backups, but they are easier to restore because there are fewer datasets.
